2012SquadraSoftware engineer

Systems for Brazilian federal agencies and enterprise clients.

What I did

  • Moved the systems to Linux on AWS and hardened SQL Server

  • Designed a new microservices architecture: Java, Spring Boot, SQL Server, messaging and queues

    • Upgraded the core stack from Symfony 3.4 to 6.4 and PHP 8.3; ported Kingdom Steward and StartCHURCH University from Zend to Symfony 6 with Claude Code (rolling out)
    • Built sc, the team’s CLI: one command sets up a dev machine and standardizes daily work
  • Products 4

    • Co-designed a microservices platform prototype with single sign-on (Keycloak) across legacy and current Symfony apps and Next.js frontends, meant to host Halo and later the whole suite, 2020–2021
    • Took over Giving Halo and Launch Halo to keep them running: release-based deploys, tests on every PR, daily database backups
    • Built and maintained the Attorney Network’s console and APIs, connecting church leaders with attorneys in every state, until the product was retired
    • Modernized AppletBuilder (PDF courses and visual guides) with single sign-on, S3 storage and snapshot publishing; moved the Video Platform (recorded courses) to its own Next.js app
  • Cost, team & AI 3

    • Runs the cloud cost program and automated manual billing work
    • Onboards and mentors developers, including bootcamp juniors
    • Brought agents, Claude Code reviews and a self-hosted MCP server into the team’s daily work

Outcomes

As of Oct 2026.

engineering

Systems and teams that outlast me: documented, shared and handed over.

  • 18% → 3%of deploys could break the live site while rolling out, before vs. after I redesigned how changes ship
  • 1h+ → ~5 minproduction deploy time after moving from Ansible on fixed servers to containers and CI/CD, so shipping up to 10 times a day became routine
  • 0 “works on my machine”bugs since dev, staging and production started running the exact same images
  • 1 commandto set up a dev machine on macOS, Linux or Windows: clone, run one script, the rest lives in containers
  • < 5 minof downtime across eight Kubernetes version upgrades
  • 40 min → secsto give every branch on staging its own copy of the database, so each change is tested against realistic data
  • ~20 years of datamillions of records migrated into a two-way CRM sync, keeping sales and finance on one source of truth
  • 14 appsrunning on one shared platform, each deployed on its own
  • 10+ menteesengineers across four companies, from bootcamp juniors to senior hires

business

Tradeoffs explained in numbers — to engineers and to the CFO.

  • 8 figuresyearly revenue of a business running on a platform I architect and operate
  • −30%cloud bill in a single month
  • ~80%less spent on testing infrastructure, same coverage: refactored code, restructured infrastructure, right-sized every service
  • −22%database cost in production on AWS
  • ~90%less load-balancer cost for preview environments
  • 3 daysof the whole billing team’s manual work, done by one automation instead

ai

LLMs in the product, agents for the team — shipped, not demoed.

  • MCPself-hosted server: the team asks an AI assistant about production data, read-only
  • Agentsin the daily dev loop; this site was designed and built with them
